Opel will end production of the hybrid Ampera

In 2009, when the pre-production concept was presented, the Opel Ampera paid for a revolutionary car. In 2012 , its forward-thinking side was duly recognized when the Ampera was awarded European Car of the Year alongside its twin, the Chevrolet Volt. In terms of success, this award was probably the pinnacle.

Ampera is definitely not a sales success . For example , in 2013 , only 3184 cars were sold, in the first five months of this year, this figure is a dismal 322 cars and, for example, only 46 Ampere were sold in Germany. Big discount events, which in some countries included a price reduction of up to 7,600 euros (approx. 210,000 crowns), did not help either.

That's why the Opel management decided to resort to probably the most radical solution. Despite the fact that sister company Chevrolet continues to develop the second-generation Volt , production of the Ampera will end this year . A successor is not expected yet.
