The New Year's Eve celebration in the African desert was quite extraordinary for the entire OffroadSport team. The Czech team managed to take the overall lead of the competition with a great drive without mistakes. The new car is holding up so far and the new V8 engine shows high performance, which Mirek can tame well.
A navigation error in yesterday's stage cost our crew a loss of almost 30 minutes. 7th place in the stage means relegation to 2nd place overall. The demanding stage meant a difficult test for our crew. The team lost almost 30 minutes due to a minor navigation error in the dunes of the Moroccan desert. Although Mirek continued at full speed, he was unable to make up for the loss and the new Hummer EVO 8 reached the finish line in 7th place. A loss means relegation from the lead to second place. It is pleasant, however, that the Kazakh crew of Yuriy Sazonov , driving another H3 EVO of the Offroadsport team, took first place.
Until today's stage, our crew started from seventh place. 70 km before the finish line, she reached the 1st position. However, after the next 10 km, the won lead became more complicated at a place that was difficult to navigate. Hummer overtook Kamaz and Jacky Loomans with Toyota and they all looked for a way together. After finding the right direction, Mirek Zapletal dropped to 3rd place, so our crew again faced a tough fight to overtake both opponents. The final kilometers of the stage were very demanding. Lots of stones destroyed the cars, the Czech H3 EVO8 finished in first place, but with a bent front arm. Yuriy Sazonov destroyed 2 wheels and also tore off the car's hydraulic lift, which allows for a quick wheel change or assistance in sand recovery. With his victory today, Mirek Zapletal once again took over the overall ranking and increased his lead. The Mobilex team moved to 2nd overall place with another Czech car Hummer H3 EVO .
