The second generation Nissan X-Trail lives on, in China

You won't be able to buy the second-generation Nissan X-Trail in Europe for more than a year, but as you probably correctly guessed, the popular SUV is not completely finished. China often becomes a second home for, in some markets, models that are already out of stock, and this is also the case with the X-Trail.

However, those who were expecting just some soulless copy will probably be slightly disappointed by the Dongfeng Fengdu MX6 . As Nissan cooperates with Dongfeng in China, it is a license-produced SUV on a proven Nissan platform. The logo of the Japanese car company can even be found in the engine compartment, where there is a two-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine with a power of 144 hp and a torque of 198 Nm. A six-speed manual or continuously variable CVT transmits power to all wheels, with a choice of 2WD, Auto or Lock mode.

The information technologies on board the 4625 mm long , 1790 mm wide and 1735 mm high Dongfeng carry the Nissan logo. In addition to the more traditional tire pressure control and rear parking camera, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring and a panoramic camera system were added. The output for most systems is a 6.2-inch multimedia system screen , traditionally located on the center console. Additional features include side airbags, electric front seats, automatic air conditioning or an audio system.

Although the bodywork itself is thoroughly camouflaged, especially from the front, the origin of the X-Trail is not hidden here either. Above all, the lights, however with different optics, reveal the truth with their shape. However, the radiator grille and bumper have undergone a change, which is not as robust as the Japanese original. The kinship could not be hidden even from the profile or rear part, even though the optics of the vertical lights were changed and a significant spoiler was added. Once again today we move to the interior, where the new center console and instrument panel dominate, but the steering wheel and seats reveal their origin almost perfectly.

As the processing and generational obsolescence suggest, the price will not be as high as the original Nissan. The Dongfeng Fengdu MX6, manufactured at the Zhengzhou-Nissan factory (another brand created in the Dongfeng-Nissan joint venture), will go on sale on March 19 in the price range between 130,000-170,000 yuan (approx. 510,000-670,000 crowns). For comparison, the original X-Trail ranged from 207,800 to 269,800 yuan (approx. 816,000 to 1,060,000 crowns).
