Nissan Qashqai – Second generation officially!

The Japanese automaker Nissan caught the popularity of crossovers in time with its Qashqai model, which has been on sale since 2007. It sells best in the markets of Europe and Russia, with worldwide sales exceeding 2 million units . So the second generation has something to build on…

In the design of the new Qashqai , most of the work went to Nissan centers in Europe, while the Japanese one also helped. At first glance, the car's overall body shape has hardly changed, but compared to its predecessor, it is longer, wider and lower. This also contributed to the reduction of aerodynamic resistance, the coefficient of which has a value of 0.32 . The design is very similar to the recently introduced larger sibling X-Trail .

The second generation of the Qashqai lost up to 40 kg compared to its predecessor, depending on the engine and equipment. It also received new technologies, some unique in the family crossover category. For an additional fee, for example, headlights fully assembled from LEDs will be available.

The novelty will offer a relatively rich, exclusively turbocharged engine range. The basis of the gasoline engines is the four-cylinder 1.2 DIG-T with a power of 115 hp and a torque of 190 Nm . The manufacturer gives a combined consumption of 5.6l/100km and emissions of 129g/km . A few months later, the four-cylinder 1.6 DIG-T will also arrive, which will offer up to 150 hp and 240 Nm . Its consumption is then allegedly the same 5.6l/100km and emissions 132g/km .

The position of the weakest diesel unit will be occupied by the four-cylinder 1.5dCi with 110 horsepower . Torque is said to be 20Nm higher compared to the same engine in the current Qashqai . Emissions are a pleasant 99g/km and combined consumption 3.8l/100km . The more powerful engine will be the 1.6dCi with its 130 horses , for which Nissan declares consumption of 4.4l/100km and emissions of 115g/km .

Two gearboxes will be on offer. The basis will be a six-speed manual , while those interested in the most powerful diesel will be able to choose Xtronic , which is basically a significantly improved CVT, i.e. variable transmission. The new Qashqai , like its first generation, will offer front-wheel drive or ALL MODE 4×4-i .

The interior of the car should be more spacious in all directions, more luxurious and pleasant. Sound insulation and quality of materials have been worked on. A number of comfort and safety features and electronic systems will be available. As an example, he cites the parking assistant, the detection of moving objects in the vehicle's path, the control of the driver's attention and many others.

The second generation Nissan Qashqai will arrive on selected world markets in the spring of 2014. The automaker is keeping the detailed price list and equipment list to itself for now. They will probably release them only when sales are approaching.
