Nissan plans to offer a city electric car

Nissan would like to add a small electric model to its portfolio along the lines of its sister Renault Twizy . At the same time, he proudly declares that their model will be better than Twizy .

Etienne Henry , head of product planning for the brand, claims this in an interview with Automotive News Europe : "Twizy tries to combine the agility of a motorcycle with the advantages of a classic car. However, I think there is room to improve this idea if we are talking about a similar type of vehicle.”

At the same time, Henry refused to specify when a similar car could appear on the market . He also did not comment on the situation surrounding the five-year-old Land Glider concept (images in the gallery), from which the novelty could be based: "It is a very interesting concept, with demanding technology," he said.

Henry believes that the new small car could combine the advantages of a car and a motorcycle as well as the crossover Qashqai once did, taking "the best" of the classic hatchback and SUV. It is no coincidence that Henry was then the product manager of the Qashqai project.

One of the goals of the new electric vehicles is to solve the dire traffic situation in big cities: "It is clear that we have to offer an efficient solution in terms of compactness and use of space. And this car will probably find a solution to that problem,” Henry concluded.
