Nissan Patrol entered the Guinness Book of Records

With its Patrol model, Nissan has set a new world record in the category of towing the heaviest aircraft using a production car. The new record took place at Sharjah International Airport in the United Arab Emirates, beating the best performance in 2006, when a Volkswagen Touareg V10 TDI towed a 155-tonne Boeing 747 over a distance of 150 metres.

However, the Nissan Patrol set a higher bar and hooked a cargo plane weighing 170.9 tons to a specially adapted towing device. Nobody wanted to believe it, but the Patrol covered a distance of 50 meters with this really heavy load. Yes, one could argue that the Touareg V10 TDI had a range of 150 meters, but then again it must be taken into account that the Patrol had a load of almost 16 tonnes heavier.

The record-breaking Nissan Patrol has a 5.6 -liter eight-cylinder under the hood with an output of 400 horsepower and a torque of 560 Nm. Power was sent to all four wheels via a seven-speed automatic transmission. In addition, the 4×4 drive in the Patrol will offer the driver four driving modes – Sand, On-Road, Rock and Snow. Of course, we congratulate Nissan and we are curious about other similar events.
