Nissan will also build the Leaf in Sunderland

You already know the Nissan Leaf , which you simply charge from the socket , from our website, as well as its modernized version . However, until today, the equation was valid that the Leaf for Europe rolls off the assembly lines of the factory in Japan. But that is changing with the advent of modernization…

The Nissan Leaf will be produced exclusively for Europe at the British factory in Sunderland alongside the Qashqai and Juke crossovers and the small Note MPV . In addition to the car, the lithium-ion batteries to power it will also be manufactured in Britain.

With the transfer of production, the previously announced facelift also reached Europe. He touched the appearance only marginally and focused more on the technique . Nissan claims to have made more than 100 changes over the original Leaf , which was imported to us from Japan.

Among the biggest innovations is the all- new drive system , the performance of which has remained the same, but the unit is now 80 kg lighter and takes up less space . This made it possible to increase the volume of the luggage compartment from 330 to 370 liters. Furthermore, the steering and shifting, body aerodynamics (air resistance dropped from cx = 0.29 to cx = 0.28) or the braking energy recovery system had to be optimized . Compared to its predecessor, the European Leaf also has an increased range from 175.4 km to 199.5 km, and you can buy a quick battery charger for an additional fee.

Nissan also expanded the equipment with a new Visa grade , which complements the existing Acenta and Tekna grades . Earlier, Nissan announced that the European Leaf should be cheaper by 3,000 euros (approx. 77,000 CZK), but if they follow through, we will have to wait until Geneva .
