Nissan has renovated the Datsun Baby

Nissan has renovated the unique Datsun Baby miniature car. This is one of a hundred special cars for children that the automaker delivered between 1964 and 1965 to the children's amusement park Kodomo no Kuni near Tokyo. The Datsun Baby was displayed along with many photographs at Nissan headquarters in Yokohama to mark the 65th anniversary of the park's opening. The restored piece is the last one produced with serial number 100.

The Datsun Baby was intended to educate children for the dangers of the real world on the roads and train their driving reflexes and actions related to vehicle control at an early age. The car was based on a miniature Cony Guppy car with a 200cc engine. However, the complete modification by Nissan consisted in maximum adaptation of the car to child drivers. It was inspired by the appearance of period sports cars. Furthermore, the car had independent suspension of all wheels and an automatic transmission . The maximum speed is limited to 30 km/h.
