The new pseudo-off-road Volvo goes against the norm

Until now, hatchbacks or station wagons have usually received plastic-protected and raised bodywork , which, however, does not look off-road very often. The only exceptions in the many-year history of this sub-segment are the sedans AMC Eagle, Subaru Outback and, recently, the Volvo S60.

Similar to the V60 Cross Country , the S60 has a 65 mm higher ground clearance, plastic cladding on the widened fenders and silver protective covers in the front and rear bumpers, respectively the side sills. Everything is complemented by 18-inch or 19-inch wheels, shod with tires with a higher side profile , and an integrated dual exhaust tip.

The United States will be the first to see the pseudo-off-road sedan, where the T5 petrol engine with 253 hp in combination with all-wheel drive will be on offer. The same engine will also be available in Europe and Russia, but with power adjusted to 257 and 252 hp, respectively. Especially in European markets, the D4 diesel version will be offered with front or all-wheel drive. While the front wheel will already have a new four-cylinder from the Drive-E series under the hood, the four- wheeler must rely on the proven five-cylinder with a volume of 2.4 liters.
