New photos and information about the modernized Skoda Yeti

The Skoda Yeti facelift is one of the topics discussed at the Frankfurt Motor Show . Some like the new face without round lights, others don't. However, in addition to this most visible change, several other, at first glance smaller changes have also taken place.

But let's start with the traditional stop at the design of the car. As we already hinted, the Yeti has lost its typical round lights at the front. Instead, it received a corporate face in the style of Rapid or Octavia. The design of the bumper and modified rear lights, which are equipped with LEDs , are also in the same spirit. For the first time in the Skoda model range, bi-xenon headlights with LED daytime running lights will be used, which can be purchased as part of special equipment.

The modernized versions will also be offered with two body types. The Urban version is designed for the city and the highway, while the Outdoor version is intended for the off-road, which differs from the Urban in plastic fender skirts and thresholds, unpainted parts of the bumpers, silver mirror covers, skids with matte ends and a different wheel design.

There are a total of 11 different looks available, with 16-inch Dolomite and 17-inch Scudo wheels reserved for the Urban model, 16-inch Forest and 17-inch Origami/Origami Black wheels for the Outdoor model. There are 15 body colors available including newcomers – Moon white, Jungle green, Metal gray and Magnetic brown for the Laurin & Klement version. The interior is equipped with new upholstery, including full leather for the Ambition and Laurin & Klement versions, a new steering wheel, gear lever and revised trim strips.

In addition to design changes, Outdoor also differs from Urban in terms of size . While the off-road version has a length of 4227 mm, the urban version is only 4222 mm. The other dimensions already match – width 1793 mm, height 1691 mm and wheelbase 2578 mm. The ground clearance of both models is 180 mm, except for the GreenLine and Green tec versions, which have a ground clearance of only 155 mm. The VarioFlex seat sliding system has been preserved, thanks to which the basic volume of the luggage compartment can increase from 405 liters to 510 liters. With the seats folded down, you can load 1580 liters, if you remove the seats up to 1760 liters.

Three petrol and four diesel engines will appear under the hood of the modernized SUV. The basic gasoline engine is a 1.2 TSI with a power of 105 hp and a torque of 177 Nm in combination with front-wheel drive, which cooperates with a six-speed manual (177 km/h, 11.4 s, 6.0 l/100 km) or a seven-speed automatic transmission DSG (174 km/h, 11.7 s, 6.1 l/100 km). The second option is a 1.4 TSI with a power of 122 hp and a torque of 200 Nm in combination with front-wheel drive, which also cooperates with a six-speed manual and the Green tec package (185 km/h, 10.6 s, 6.4 l/100 km) or with a seven-speed DSG automatic (182 km/h, 10.6 s, 6.6 l/100 km). The most powerful petrol unit is the 1.8 TSI , which works exclusively with all-wheel drive. In the version with a six-speed manual, it has a power of 160 hp and a torque of 250 Nm (200 km/h, 8.4 s, 7.8 l/100 km), if you reach for the six-speed DSG automatic, the power drops to 152 hp, but the torque will still be the same 250 Nm (192 km/h, 9.0 s, 8.0 l/100 km).

The basic diesel unit is the 1.6 TDI GreenLine with a power of 105 hp and a torque of 250 Nm in combination with front-wheel drive, which cooperates with a five-speed manual (176 km/h, 12.1 s, 4.6 l/100 km). The Green tec version also offers the same engine, only in combination with a seven-speed DSG automatic (175 km/h, 12.2 s, 5.0 l/100 km). More powerful is the two-liter TDI with a capacity of 110 hp, which is offered in combination with a five-speed manual and front-wheel drive (250 Nm, 177 km/h, 11.6 s, 5.1 l/100 km) or a six-speed manual and all-wheel drive (280 Nm, 174 km/h, 12.2 s, 5.8 l/100 km). The diesel 2.0 TDI is in action for the second time, this time with a power of 140 hp and a torque of 320 Nm. A total of three versions can be chosen – front-wheel drive with six-speed manual and Green tec package (193 km/h, 9.7 s, 5.1 l/100 km) or all-wheel drive with six-speed manual (190 km/h, 9 .9 s, 5.6 l/100 km) or all-wheel drive with a six-speed DSG automatic (187 km/h, 10.2 s, 6.3 l/100 km). The most powerful diesel is the 2.0 TDI with a power of 170 hp and a torque of 350 Nm in combination with all-wheel drive and a six-speed manual (201 km/h, 8.4 s, 5.7 l/100 km) or a six-speed DSG automatic (197 km/ h, 8.6 s, 6.3 l/100 km).

The most important technical element is certainly the all-wheel drive, which is based on the fifth generation of the electronically controlled Haldex inter-axle clutch . Among other new technical solutions, Skoda draws attention in particular to the rear parking camera , which appears for the first time in any of the Skoda models. Safety is ensured by 9 airbags, ABS, ESC, ASR, Isofix or even fog lights. Among the additional features worth mentioning are the driver fatigue monitoring system, tire pressure monitoring or hill start and hill descent assistants.
