The new generation Lexus IS is already being tested

The second generation of the Japanese Lexus IS was unveiled at the 2005 New York Auto Show , so it's no surprise that the new generation has begun testing. Regardless of the fact that competition in the form of the Mercedes C-Class or the BMW 3-Series have recently revealed their latest models, Lexus must not be left behind.

The classic IS should share design elements from the LF-CC concept, which was presented at the Paris Motor Show , and it's no secret that the IS will also be offered as a coupe or convertible with a fixed folding roof. The sharper Lexus IS-F will differ from the classic one with a lowered chassis, extended body kit and alloy wheels with a sporty touch. The attached spy photos show a camouflaged sedan being tested in Belgium.

According to a German source , the new generation Lexus IS will have a 2.5-liter four-cylinder with direct injection and a hybrid system under the hood. The output should be equal to 200 horses . Combined consumption reaches 4.2 l/100 km and CO 2 emissions to around 100 g/km . The premiere will probably take place next year.
