Datsun used to be a term among sports cars a long time ago, mainly thanks to models like the 240Z or Fairlady. But then the brand ended and the sports models were renamed to Nissan . Now this famous car manufacturer is coming back …
… but it won't be with the sports model! Datsun will be a cheap brand of the Renault-Nissan concern for "Eastern" countries (yes, it will be cheaper than Dacia or Lada).
Colin Dodge , vice president of Nissan, announced today that the revived Datsun will share a platform with the Lada Kalina ! What's more, both cars will have the same steering or fuel system. However, you wo n't know it's a Lada from the outside and, after all, even from the inside. Both cars are supposed to be very different.
The first Datsun model will be produced at the end of 2013 in Russia, specifically at the plant in Togliatti , where Lady or Nissan Almera are already produced. Russia, India and Indonesia will be the first to receive the news. It has not yet been stated which other states will follow.
It was also announced earlier that the basic model would like to be priced somewhere around the 2,300 euro mark (approx. CZK 58,000). We will find out how (un)real it is next year…
