The local media immediately came up with a clear message – it is the Fabia Combi , which should arrive in China within a few months. However, upon closer inspection, these theories fall apart…
There is mainly one reason. The Fabia is nearing the end of its life cycle, so it is unlikely that a new generation will be revealed in a few months, and even in China. Especially when it comes to Skoda 's second most important car. And if we were to compare the current model (sold in Europe) and the camouflaged prototype, we will find that the prototype has a much shorter rear overhang than the current combi version of the small hatchback. From this equation, we find out with a simple calculation that 90% of the time it is not a Fabia Combi .
But then the question arises, what is it? One theory says that it is the Rapid Sportback , which is ready for next year, most likely at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Again, a few details do not fit us here. The door handles do not match those on the standard Rapid and the body pontoon also looks different. The theory again falls apart on the details (or would Skoda make the Rapid Sportback so different from the liftback version?).
And that's why the third, wildest theory comes into play. She says that it is an Octavia hatchback or sportback ! Many people will now start tapping their heads, but remember the photo from the presentation of Rapid, where there was a sketch of a Skoda and according to the media it was supposed to be an Octavia. It wasn't a classic liftback either, but rather a hatchback or sportback. Is Skoda hinting that he is really planning something like this? The style of masking the headlights would also match the new generation Octavia . However, just compare the camouflage on the liftback, which is also being tested here, and this hatchback… The shape is slightly different, but the method is exactly the same…
The last theory talks about the attempt of the VW concern to test some other concern model under the guise of Skoda. By all accounts, however, this seems like an unlikely option – it is too short for a Leon station wagon , the VW Budget Car is only in the planning phase, and the VW Group is not yet planning another car of a similar size. Perhaps only that it would be a specialty for the local market …
