Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV enters the European market

Six months after the launch of the all-new third-generation Mitsubishi Outlander crossover in most European markets, Mitsubishi Motors Corporation will present its most strategic variant in the form of an all-wheel drive Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show in March.

The Outlander PHEV has been available to customers in Japan since January 2013. The start of production for the European markets at the Japanese Okazaki factory is planned for May this year, and the car will reach the showrooms of European dealers in July.

The European specification of the Outlander PHEV model will be very similar to the Japanese version with the exception of the mandatory EU regulatory items, the only difference will be in the brakes and tires, which are better suited to driving conditions in Europe.

Although the official EU homologation data will only be available in the coming weeks, the latest figures already confirm the outstanding level of environmental protection of the Outlander PHEV version and its ability to satisfy all the daily needs of customers. Above all, thanks to the generous interior space and luggage compartment volume of 463 l, the combined consumption of 1.9 l/100 km and the range of 52 kilometers on electric drive.

The new Outlander PHEV is the first Mitsubishi car to be equipped with a traditional internal combustion engine or plug-in electric drive. The price of the car has not yet been announced.
