Mitsubishi begins production of the ASX in America

Since its US debut in September 2010, the ASX (in the US as the Outlander Sport) has been Mitsubishi 's best-selling model in the US. Therefore, production of this compact crossover began in the American continent at the Mitsubishi Motors North America (MMNA) plant in Normal, Illinois .

Since its launch in Japan in February 2010, more than 250,000 ASX models have been sold worldwide.

Until recently, the Illinois plant produced models designed specifically for the North American market, such as the Galant , Eclipse , Eclipse Spyder and Endeavor . It is now becoming a global plant for Mitsubishi Motors Corporation , as it will produce the ASX not only for North America, but also models for export to Russia, Central and South America, and the Middle East. The factory in Illinois now serves as a global production and import center .

The planned production capacity of the Illinois factory is about 50,000 units, and MMC is considering expanding it to 70,000 units in the future.
