Mitsubishi Evo – The next generation as a rival to the GT-R

The name Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution is one of the legends of the motoring world, which often appears on race tracks, especially rally ones. However, the new generation of this car should be completely different from what we are used to!

The new generation of the global Mitsubishi Lancer should be introduced as early as next year, so naturally there is also talk of a successor to the top version of the Evo . However, according to the latest reports, it should take a completely new direction and become a plug-in hybrid sports car , whose main competitors will include the excellent Nissan GT-R .

A PHEV hybrid variant is planned for the new Lancer generation, the arrival of a sharp version of the Mitsubishi Evolution largely depends on its success in the markets. Although it will stand on the Lancer platform, it will otherwise be a separate model, but it should also borrow a hybrid system combining a gasoline four-cylinder and electric motors . The expected performance of the entire system is around 500 horsepower , while all four wheels will be driven.

The new sporty hybrid Mitsubishi Evolution is said to offer even better driving characteristics than we are used to, and at the same time it will be an economical car with the option of only electric driving . As for the design of the car, it will be based on the RA concept presented at the 2008 Detroit Auto Show (photo below the article).

As you can see, the new Evolution will be a completely different car than what we are used to. However, the car is still under development, so we are still several long years away from its launch. However, we are curious what the result will be and how it will fare compared to the Nissan GT-R , which should also get a hybrid drive in the new generation.
