Mercedes has slightly revised the technical data of the plug-in hybrid S class

It's been almost a year since Mercedes first introduced a plug-in hybrid variant of the S-Class sedan , simply called the S 500 Plug-in Hybrid. Initial reports promised consumption of 3 l/100 km and an electric range of 30 km. However, before the start of sales, the data was improved even more

The 500 Plug-in Hybrid thus becomes the first luxury sedan to consume less than 3 liters of fuel per 100 km . The specific value, during laboratory measurement, stopped at 2.8 l/100 km ! The original 30-kilometer range on electricity is also a thing of the past, because the Stuttgart miracle can even travel 33 km without emissions ! With all this, somewhat surprisingly, the acceleration also goes down – the limousine reaches 100 km/h in 5.2 seconds (previously 5.5 seconds).

Let me remind you that the drive is provided by a three-liter six-cylinder with an output of 333 hp and a torque of 480 Nm. This is helped by an electric motor with a capacity of 109 hp and a torque of 340 Nm. The system output of the limousine is 442 horsepower. The driver can choose between four driving modes – Hybrid, E-Mode (driving purely on electricity), E-Save (fully charged batteries store their energy for later use) and Charge (batteries are charged while driving).
