Mercedes showed its second plug-in hybrid

After the S-class, the second plug-in hybrid in the Mercedes range will be its smaller almost -twin C-class . The dynamics of a six-cylinder with low consumption and a usable electric range are promised…

The two-liter gasoline four-cylinder from the C 250 version combined with an electric motor and water-cooled lithium-ion batteries with a capacity of 6.2 kWh will take care of it. Separately, the combustion unit has 211 hp at 5500 rpm and 349 Nm, the electric motor generates 82 hp and 340 Nm. When combined , power rises to 279 hp and torque to 599 Nm, which, in combination with a seven-speed automatic, is enough to accelerate to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds (the station wagon is 0.3 seconds slower) and a top speed of 250 km/h h (station wagon 246 km/h).

The already mentioned lithium-ion batteries are located under the floor of the trunk , which took up 15 liters of luggage space (sedan has 335 liters, station wagon 350 liters), and weighs 100 kilograms. Thanks to them, however, Mercedes can travel up to 31 km purely on electricity , but the combined hybrid mode is much more advantageous with a consumption of 2.1 l/100 km and CO2 emissions at the level of 48 g/km. The advantage of a plug-in hybrid is the possibility of recharging the batteries from a regular electrical network. If you use a home socket with a current of 13 A, expect about two hours to fully charge, if you choose a socket with a current of 16 A, subtract 15 minutes from the home time.
