Mercedes is preparing a competitor to the BMW X6

The segment of coupe and SUV hybrids will soon get a major player. Mercedes intends to threaten the position of the BMW X6 , and with the Concept Coupé SUV , it indicates what weapons it wants to use to achieve this.

First of all, the body, which at first looks like a classic SUV, not similar to the M class , but in the rear parts the roof line begins to break dramatically and the shape of the rear part is more like a coupe . Mercedes itself describes the Concept Coupé SUV with the words "sensual as a coupe, visionary as an SUV" . The Alu Beam paint refers to the legendary silver arrows of the forties and fifties, while the LED front headlights, 22-inch wheels with 305/45 R22 tires or the strip of rear lights are related to modern Mercedes.

The Concept Coupé SUV shares a platform with the classic M-Class and is thus slightly larger than the current X6. It has a length of 4935 mm , a width of 2044 mm and a height of 1739 mm. The base M class then has a wheelbase of 2916 mm, but the wheel track has been increased (by 28 mm at the front and 103 mm at the rear).

In the case of the concept, the drive is a twin-turbo three-liter six-cylinder gasoline engine with an output of 333 hp and a torque of 480 Nm. Power is transmitted to all wheels using a nine-speed gearbox. The chassis has double wishbones at the front and a multilink axle at the back, air suspension and the Active Curve System come from the S-Class.
