Mercedes comes up with a concept to rival the BMW X4

It started already in January with the premiere of the large SUV GLE Coupé , with which Mercedes sent a clear answer to the BMW X6. However, the Munich-based carmaker also has a smaller crossover between a coupe and an all-terrain vehicle called the X4 in its portfolio. The competition for this type will be the smaller GLC Coupé, presented in Shanghai as a concept so far.

And the fact that the four-seater Concept GLC Coupé is not at all far from serial production shows the level of sophistication and, in fact, the shaping of individual body details. Practically the only two elements that we will not see in the series are the mirrors and the four tailpipes. These details will certainly be more conventional. Only the most luxurious model will probably get LED front lights , but their shape will not change. The pair of rear lights, also equipped with LEDs, with the shape of the GLE Coupé, will most likely survive the stage of transformation from concept to series production. Not only the shape of the body looks attractive, but above all the yellow paintwork in combination with the matte gray plastic lining of the bumpers, mudguards and the lower part of the doors. 21-inch wheels with 255/50 front and 285/45 rear tires skillfully fill the distinctively shaped wheel arches.

The 4727 mm long , 2000 mm wide and only 1593 mm high concept with a wheelbase of 2827 mm shares the floor platform with the upcoming second generation GLC SUV, i.e. the successor to the current GLK model. Under the hood of the GLC Coupé is a twin-turbo three-liter six-cylinder petrol engine with an output of 367 hp at 5,500 rpm with a torque of 520 Nm between 1,400 – 4,000 rpm. All wheels are permanently driven via the nine-speed 9G-Tronic automatic transmission.
