Mercedes comes with the modernization of the G-class

You can no longer buy its three-door version and convertible on a Friday, the main rival from Land Rover ends this year, but the five-door G-class still remains in the offer of the three-pointed star. And with the arrival of the current facelift, it doesn't look like it should stop anytime soon.

The main change is the installation of a four-liter eight-cylinder gasoline engine with two turbochargers under the hood of the G 500 version. Its 422 hp between 5250 – 5500 rpm and 610 Nm between 2250 – 4750 rpm can move the aerodynamically inefficient and heavy off-road from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds. And that's really great value. The Mercedes-AMG G 63 and G 65 versions will offer even more power, and therefore better acceleration. In the first case, the 5.5-liter eight-cylinder produces 571 hp (+ 27 hp) and 760 Nm, in the second, there is a six-liter twelve-cylinder under the hood with an output of 630 hp (+ 18 hp) with a torque equal to 1000 Nm. The speed of 100 kilometers appears on the speedometer in 5.4 seconds and 5.3 seconds, respectively. The diesel three-liter six-cylinder with a capacity of 245 hp (+ 34 hp) with a torque of 600 Nm under the hood of the G 350 d model will be many liters more economical, but at the same time it is clearly the slowest with an acceleration to 100 km/h in 8.9 seconds. Mercedes does not mention fuel consumption, however, all versions comply with Euro 6 and, with the exception of the AMG G 65, have a stop/start system as standard.

Thanks to the new tuning, the shock absorbers provide better comfort and controllability , the G 500 version also has additional adaptive shock absorbers, working in Sport and Comfort modes. Recalibration saw traction control , which results in improved driving characteristics, ABS, which shortens the distance needed to stop, and ESP, which contributes to better stability and greater driving safety. Design changes include new bumpers and widened fenders from the AMG versions of the G 350 d and G 500, while the diesel version also benefits from 18-inch wheels. The interior of the regular and sports versions received a redesigned instrument panel with two alarm clocks in separate tubes, the G 350 d and G 500 have instruments supplemented with an 11.4-centimeter multi-function display.

A Color package will be available for AMG workshop models, combining black bumpers, fenders, mirror caps, roof and the ring around the spare wheel cover with distinctive green, orange, yellow, red or purple rest of the body. The interior is stitched with thread in the same color as the body. The special AMG G 63 and G 65 Edition 463 feature a stainless-steel skid plate, an AMG Sports design strip on the side, a protective strip in black aluminum and 21-inch wheels. The seats are upholstered in two-tone Designo leather with diamond stitching in contrasting thread, the dashboard is inlaid with carbon and the door trim is provided by Nappa leather.
