Mazda has modernized its ecological kei car Carol Eco

The specific market of Japanese kei cars makes it possible, if various conditions are met, to completely exempt the car from all environmental taxes . This is also used by Mazda , which modified its ecological model Carol Eco in the spirit of the standards.

The three-cylinder engine with a prescribed volume of 0.66 liters received better gasoline combustion, modified piston geometry, a compression ratio increased to 11.2:1 , better oil and a modified control unit not only for itself, but also for the CVT automatic transmission.

The result is lower fuel consumption of the model with front and all-wheel drive . If the front wheel "managed" 3.03 l/100 km before the modernization, after the modernization it is only 2.86 l/100 km . The four-wheel drive claimed 3.29 l/100 km before the upgrade, but only 3.13 l/100 km after the upgrade. Thanks to these, albeit miniature, savings, Mazda is able to comply with all local regulations , so the owner of the Carol Eco is freed from the obligation to pay environmental tax for his car.

Other changes include only the offer of two new body colors (pink metallic Champagne Pearl and red Phoenix Pearl). The base price on the Japanese market, where the Eco-L and Eco-X variants are available, is ¥849,450 (approx. CZK 165,000).
