Mazda is apparently preparing a competitor for the Subaru XV

Recently, the new Mazda3 was presented at the Frankfurt Motor Show, but the automaker simply does not want to rest on its laurels, and that is why, according to speculation, it is already playing with the following idea – a crossover based on the Mazda3 . If it gets the "green" for production, it will primarily compete with the Subaru XV .

If you remember, there was already information (rather speculation) about the CX-3 model , which would be a small SUV built on the basis of the new generation Mazda2. However, according to recently published information, it looks like the new smaller crossover will be based on the new "troika" . And why did the automaker decide on this model?

The Australian representative office of the Mazda brand sent a request to Japan to see if they would consider a Mazda3 with a higher ground clearance and the ability to go into moderate terrain. From the land of the rising sun, or rather from Mazda, came the answer that the supreme power would deal with it. The Deputy Program Manager of the Model 3 stated: "In addition to Australia, other countries have expressed interest in the model".

If everything goes according to plan, we can expect all-wheel drive for the "off-road" Mazda3, as the new Mazda3 has the same platform as the CX-5 crossover . In conclusion, the automaker assures that it will not be a mere copy of the Subaru XV and that it really cares .
