Liter EcoBoost engine already next year in Ford Focus

The Ford car company continues to develop economical turbocharged EcoBoost units. Today we will talk about the smallest cubic capacity, which will be represented by the liter three-cylinder in the offer. The engine will debut next year in the Focus model.

Of course, the three-cylinder heart is equipped with the latest technologies that contribute to lower consumption, lower production of harmful substances and to a reduction of the vibrations themselves, manifested during idling. For example, the aluminum cylinder head, the innovative flywheel and the new design of the front pulley. The engine is of course turbocharged, which goes hand in hand with Ti-VCT twin independent camshaft timing.

Two power variants will be available in the menu, with the weaker one having a power of 74 kW and releasing only 109 grams of CO 2 into the air for every kilometer driven. A more powerful variant will be available with an output of 92 kW and a torque of 170 Nm (200 Nm with the overboost function). Combined fuel consumption should not exceed the limit of 5 liters per 100 kilometers. Compared to the weaker variant, there is an increase of only 5 grams of C0 2 /km.
