Land Rover has produced an electric car based on the Defender model

Myths and long-held traditions are meant to be destroyed. At least that's what Land Rover obviously said when they replace the classic square Defender with the rounded DC100 in the foreseeable future. Even before that change happens, however, Land Rover will shock orthodox fans once again.

And with an electric Defender ! It has, as the adjective already suggests, an electric drive unit under the hood instead of a diesel engine. It was developed by the Land Rover Advanced Engineering team and has a maximum power of 95 hp and a maximum torque of 300 Nm.

Energy is supplied from lithium-ion batteries with a capacity of 27 kWh and a maximum voltage of 300 Volts. A Defender equipped in this way can travel about 80 km , and the British car manufacturer adds in one breath that the batteries will be discharged in up to 8 hours by driving slowly in the field.

Charging takes four hours if you use the 7kW charger or 10 hours if you use the 3kW charger. The positive news is that the weight of the entire car has only increased by about 100 kg despite the installation of 410 kg of heavy batteries, and Land Rover has even retained the all-wheel drive with a locking differential and an improved Terrain Response system. As you can see from the photos, even the electric Defender is not afraid of water ( wading capacity up to 800 mm ).
