The Jade station wagon is headed to Japan

The six-seater Honda Jade was originally supposed to remain reserved for the Chinese market only. However, the Japanese automaker apparently decided that if it equips the station wagon with a hybrid drive , it can also sell it in the much more demanding domestic market . Only time will tell how she will succeed…

However, for a hybrid car, the Jade is an unusually compact and variable station wagon. With a length of 4650 mm and a wheelbase of 2670 mm, the last two seats are rather emergency seats, but with a height of 1530 mm, you can even go into multi-storey garages. Another advantage is the flat floor of the car , which facilitates the position of a pair of passengers in the third row who do not have to sit in an unnatural position. Honda engineers achieved this thanks to a thin and compact fuel tank or exhaust system, suspension with double wishbones and the placement of lithium-ion batteries in the center console (a first ever for a Honda hybrid model).

If you don't need the rear seats, they can be folded into the floor and create a flat bed. The same applies to seats and armchairs. the second row and the Jade can be transformed into a small hybrid van in no time. The Sport Hybrid i-DCD powertrain consists of a fifteen-horsepower engine with an output of 131 hp at 6,600 rpm with a torque of 155 Nm at 4,600 rpm and an electric motor with an output of 29.5 hp with a torque of 160 Nm. The electric motor is integrated into a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox , which transmits power to the front wheels, which is enough for an average consumption of 4 l/100 km with 16-inch wheels, or 4.1 l/100 km with 17-inch wheels.

The design of the body is mainly characterized by a low silhouette and LED low beam lights at the front , respectively LED rear lights. The design of the radiator grille, the shape of the cast wheels and the distinctive rear spoiler were adapted to the best possible aerodynamic efficiency. Inside, in addition to the already mentioned variability, the digital instrument panel and wooden or fake carbon decor dominate. In addition to the classic black upholstery and plastics, Honda also offers a light ivory shade , which, according to the photos, suits the interior a little more. The standard equipment includes, among other things, a leather steering wheel, LED lighting, six airbags and electric windows for all windows, additional equipment includes, for example, a multimedia system with a seven-inch touch screen and navigation.

The Honda Sensing safety package was first seen in the new generation Legend flagship sedan, respectively the American specification of the modernized CR-V. Jade gets it for an additional fee and includes an assistant for maintaining the selected lane, automatic braking in the event of an imminent frontal collision or collision with a pedestrian, a system for keeping on the road (in the event of an involuntary imminent departure from the road, the steering wheel will begin to vibrate and a warning will be displayed if the driver continues to not react the car will turn from the selected direction by itself), guarding when starting at the intersection (warning that there is a free space in front of you or, conversely, the impossibility of starting if there is a car in front of you) and adaptive cruise control with automatic start at low speeds. To monitor traffic, it uses a radar assistant package in the radiator grille and a camera in the upper part of the front window.
