Kia presented its first production electric car

The electric car market is an increasingly lucrative area for car companies, especially in the US , where various ecological cars are relatively popular. Therefore, it is not surprising that Kia presented its first electric car on American soil.

The Soul EV is powered by a front-mounted electric motor with an output of 110 hp and a torque of 284 Nm. The unit is powered by lithium-ion polymer batteries with a capacity of 27 kWh, thanks to which the crossover has a range of 129-161 km per charge. The maximum speed is limited to 145 km/h, the Soul accelerates to 100 km/h in about 12 seconds.

It takes about 24 hours to fully charge the batteries from a 120-volt network, if you choose a 240-volt network, it only takes about 5 hours to charge. There is also the option of using a quick charger that charges the batteries to 80% capacity in about 33 minutes.

Compared to the classic Soul, changes to the bodywork are noticeable at first glance – the radiator grille is now blinded and has an integrated charging port . The bumpers were also modified, the lights received LED daytime running lights, and the sixteen-inch wheels have an ecologically optimized design and Super Low Rolling Resistance tires.

The interior received GPS navigation, an ecologically adapted air conditioning system or a 3.5-inch OLED display, informing about the state of the batteries and the charging time. The bad news is that the installation of batteries has reduced the space in the rear seats and the size of the trunk has shrunk to 541 liters.
