An incredible scandal is moving the Czech political scene

Today's blog will not be entirely about cars , although it will actually be about cars. However, he will deal much more with the Czech political scene , or rather with a small Czech politician who is envious of a big electric car.

The entire case, which has been literally moving the Czech political scene for the last few hours, was triggered by an article on the news portal iDnes.cz , dealing with the vehicle fleet of the municipality of Ústí nad Labem. Deputy Mayor Martin Hausenblas for the PRO! Ústí, otherwise also a successful entrepreneur, decided to use a Tesla Model S in P85 Performance version with 420 horsepower for his trips to work. It is important to state that he bought the car out of his own money and he also pays the costs associated with its operation out of his own pocket, because for him it is an expression of his opinion on life. The only request from the city hall, from which he could otherwise use a company limousine with a CCS card for fuel, was to build a charging point for electric cars in public garages. The outlet with the electricity meter cost the town hall almost 3,500 crowns, and it can be used by all citizens of the city (the deputy mayor has allegedly not used it yet, because they charge their car at home and it was created mainly because of the possible need for a longer range). The price is charged to everyone, including Hausenblas, according to the consumption on the electricity meter. An example worth following for other Czech politicians? But what's wrong with you, we're in the Czech Republic!

The car, or rather the establishment of a charging station , immediately became a thorn in the side of the opposition, specifically the deputy and former head of the ODS in Ústí, Radi Holeček . He told iDnes.cz : "It's unfortunate. And the fact that only he has such an electric car gives the impression of superiority. He claims that it is a vision of the future, people will have such cars. But whether I look to the left or to the right, only he has such a car." The question arises why a private car is a thorn in Holeček's side, when in addition, according to Hausenblas, it saves 12-13 thousand crowns a month on leasing and other expenses for fuel . That a classic Czech trait would show again, i.e. envy that someone has something better than the company Superb , which I used? (Just to make it clear, I definitely don't want to devalue the Superb as such, because the car is still good despite its age) Or is it perhaps an effort to please the voters, of whom ODS has damn few lately?
