Hyundai introduced the fun Veloster concept

Back when we had the Hyundai Veloster Turbo in the editorial for a week's test , we criticized the poor engine-chassis match and the generally unfun driving characteristics you'd expect from a light coupe with a turbocharged engine. The Veloster Midship concept now promises the exact opposite, which will surprise especially with its technology.

The fact that the development was handled by the same team that was also in charge of the early development of the racing i20 WRC can tell a lot. The Veloster, which stands out above all for its unconventional door design, lacks a rear seat in the Midship version. It was replaced by a mid-mounted turbocharged four-cylinder Theta GDI , which has a power of 300 horsepower!

Thanks to the short wheelbase and the location of the engine right from the front seats, Hynudai promises ideal weight distribution and grip when driving through corners. Rear-wheel drive , reinforced chassis and lightweight aluminum suspension are also intended to help achieve fun behind the wheel.

The wild white and blue color scheme aside, the Veloster Midship is visually appealing as well. The large carbon wing , along with the engine cover following the roofline, complement the intakes in the rear bumper, in front of the rear fenders and on the engine hood. The black painted wheels also stand out.

Series production of the car as such is not considered, as it is only intended to show the possibilities of the Veloster model's chassis . However, some elements could enter the series , either on racing derivatives or road models.
