The compact crossover segment will soon get a very capable competitor. The Hyundai ix25 is being presented at the Chinese Chengdu auto show, which will attack with the classic weapons of the Korean car manufacturer – an attractive design and a good price-to-utility ratio.
At 4270 mm long, 1780 mm wide and 1622 mm high, the Hyundai is most reminiscent of the much larger Santa Fe in body design. Above all, the distinctive front mask in combination with the headlights, equipped with LED diodes for daytime running, seems to fall out of his eyes. Similar to its competitors, the ix25 will be mainly about effect, so no significant off-road pleasures can be expected, which is related to the relatively low ground clearance. However, plastic protection for fenders and bumpers is not missing.
Thanks to the wheelbase of 2590 mm , at least two passengers should sit comfortably on the rear seats. Stylistically, Hyundai did not experiment in the interior and opted for proven shapes, complemented by black plastic or a combination of, for example, black and red. On the central panel, the multimedia system (part of the equipment of more expensive versions) is removed, the passengers in the back will be able to enjoy their own vents, as well as a panoramic roof .
Under the hood, we find a platform identical to the Kia Soul and, at least for China, two gasoline engines – a 125-horsepower 16 -liter and a 160-horsepower two-liter in combination with a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic. In addition to front-wheel drive, there is also an all-wheel drive version planned, which could be a significant competitive advantage.
The basic price in China will be around 140,000 yuan (approx. 479,000 crowns), the top version will be about 30,000 yuan (approx. 103,000 crowns) more expensive.
