Hyundai introduced the new i10

The new generation of the urban Hyundai i10 is perhaps a more important model for the automaker than it seems at first glance. After the arrival of the Volkswagen concern's New Small Family , these cars dominated the sales charts, and the new i10 naturally wants to disrupt their campaign.

And as Hyundai claims, it has the best prerequisites for this. Above all, the novelty has grown – up to 80 mm in length, 65 mm in width, and the wheelbase is 5 mm longer. Only the height has changed by 50 mm. The luggage compartment can now hold 10% more cargo and with 252 liters it is at the top of the class. It is not for nothing that Hyundai claims that it is the most spacious car in its class .

The design sticks to Hyundai's established ruts. There is a hexagonal intake opening in the front bumper, LEDs for daytime running lights or a rising line of side windows. A pair of engines will appear under the hood – a three- cylinder 1.0 and a four-cylinder 1.25 . In addition to the size, the standard equipment will also improve – air conditioning, head airbags, cruise control or stabilization should appear in the base of some versions. Production will take place in Izmit, Turkey.

But the offer of the new i10 does not end there. Hyundai will also offer a larger sibling, called the Grand i10 . It is 100 mm longer than the classic i10 and will even offer a three-cylinder diesel 1.1 under the hood, which will complement the gasoline four-cylinder 1.2 from the Kappa series. But there is one catch, you cannot buy the Grand model in Europe, because it is primarily intended for the Indian market , where Hyundai has a strong position.

In India, the Grand i10 will be slotted between the existing i10 and the larger i20. Compared to the European version, for example, LEDs for daytime running lights in the front bumper are also missing. The composition of the equipment will also be different – in India, air conditioning for rear passengers, radio with 1GB memory, rear parking sensors or electric mirrors will be available.
