Hyundai introduced the new generation SUV ix35

The very first generation of Hyundai's compact SUV carried the name worldwide Tucson . The second generation kept it only for North America or home South Korea, the European got the Hyundai ix35 . The third sequel presented today goes back to the beginning, so Tucson will once again be assembled in Nošovice.

At 4475mm long, 1850mm wide and 1645mm high, the body looks a lot like (at least at the front) the Santa Fe and the recently introduced ix25 small SUV. I'll leave it to individual opinion whether it's harmful or not, I'll only add that the main lights, visually connected to the slightly chrome radiator grille, use LEDs. You can also find them in the front bumper, here designed for daytime running lights . An interesting element is the slightly rearwardly shifted A-pillar, which creates a cleaner appearance of the profile. The large alloy wheels and the decent plastic coating of the body will also impress you, as if someone were to go off-road. Traditionally, Hyundai's rear sections stand out especially with a smaller glass area. Here, it is additionally added with i20-like lights and silver-painted plastic in the bumper. Maybe slightly controversial.

On the contrary, the interior, although it may not dazzle at first glance, deserves praise . Mainly in the sense that it returns from visual and user complexity to a simpler scheme. The attached photos clearly show the top version, which does not lack Wine red leather upholstery and a multimedia system with TomTom navigation . It should be up to three times faster than its predecessor, and along with it, the customer will also receive a seven-year subscription to the TomTom Live service. Good news for passengers is the increase in the wheelbase to 2670 mm and the basic trunk volume of 513 liters. In addition to the already mentioned navigation, the equipment may include ventilated and heated front seats or a parking assistant.

Only units meeting the Euro 6 emission standard will appear under the hood. The base is a 135-horsepower GDI six- cylinder engine, which is complemented by a T-GDI turbocharged six-cylinder engine with a 176-horsepower output. The basic diesel seventeen produces 115 horses, the larger two-liter has 136 or even 184 horses. The standard for all engines is a six-speed manual transmission, which can be replaced by a six-speed automatic in the case of two-liter diesels and a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic in the case of the 1.6 T-GDI.

Safety equipment will include lane departure warning as standard or as an option, traffic monitoring behind the vehicle with a 180-degree range, blind spot monitoring with speed limit reading, active hood and autonomous braking with three modes of operation. The premiere will take place in two weeks in Geneva, sales of the Tucson from Nošovice will start in the second half of this year.
