Hyundai i30 SR for Australia

The self-confidence of the Korean automaker Hyundai in recent years is practically unstoppable. One interesting model after another is spewing out on all world markets, and specific versions designed for a given specific market are not left out. Today, for example, we take a look at the SR -spec i30 , which was officially shown to the public for the first time this week in Sydney , Australia, and which will represent the most powerful variant of this popular hatchback yet.

This version is powered by a 2-liter four-cylinder petrol engine borrowed from the larger i40 model, generating 130 kW (174 hp) and 213 Nm of torque, an increase of 27 hp and 35 Nm of torque compared to the standard engine with a displacement of 1, 8 liters. However, you will not find these engines in the i30 on the Czech market. The highlight of the offer is the petrol 1.6 GDI DOHC with a maximum output of 99 kW.

And it will remain so until 2014, when the i30 will be produced in its sharpest version, supplemented by a turbocharged power unit with as yet unknown parameters. An engine borrowed from the Veloster Turbo model or a completely new turbocharged two-liter, whose performance could compete with cars such as the Golf GTI or Astra OPC or Focus ST , are under consideration.

But let's go back for a moment to this Australian specification, which also differs from the others with a new black grille, 17-inch alloy wheels, LED DRLs, a rear diffuser and leather interior upholstery with contrasting red thread stitching.
