Honda introduced the fifth generation MPV Odyssey

Honda hasn't figured in the SUV segment in Europe for some years now. In Asia, however, it is doing exceedingly well in this segment, and so it is already introducing the fifth generation MPV Odyssey to Japan and the surrounding countries.

We have already presented one car with a similar name this year – it was an American version , which, however, has only the name in common with the Japanese one. Otherwise, the MPV presented today is completely different and built with an Asian customer in mind. After all, this can already be seen in the design of the car, which does not skimp on sharp edges and various moldings.

The interior can accommodate, depending on the version, 7 or 8 passengers in three rows. Access to the second and third rows is greatly facilitated by a pair of side sliding doors. Another advantage of a large MPV is the very low threshold of the luggage compartment and the ability to remove, fold or move the seat in a variety of ways.

Underneath the sleek body is a completely new platform with modified chassis tuning aimed at improving comfort and ride quality. Under the hood is a 2.4 i-VTEC four-cylinder petrol engine in combination with front or all-wheel drive. If you choose front-wheel drive, the engine will have a power of 175 hp, if you go for four-wheel drive, the power will increase to 185 hp. In both cases, a CVT automatic is standard.

A modification package for the Absolute and Absolute EX versions from the brand's in-house tuner, Mugen , will also be available at launch. In addition to the optical package , which includes new bumpers, a discreet rear spoiler and seventeen-, eighteen- or nineteen-inch wheels, Mugen will offer a sports exhaust system , a lowered sports chassis and better brakes.
