Honda has released some information and photos about the new concept

Honda is also slowly following the fashion of small SUVs or crossovers for the city. After the failed HR-V model, it is trying to make a comeback with the Urban SUV concept, which will hit real roads within a year and a day.

In terms of design, the current school of the Japanese car manufacturer has made its mark on it. The distinctive front mask shares some details with classic Hondas, on the other hand, the rear part and the profile are original. The recessed rear door handles in the C-pillars are also an interesting design feat. The model thus resembles a coupe more.

A view of the interior is only possible through the official video, but even that is enough to find out that it is not so futuristic here. Everything is dominated (as usual these days) by the large screen of the multimedia system, which resides together with the ventilation outlet in the upper half of the dashboard. The second half contains a few more buttons and thanks to the dark color both parts form an interesting contrast .

Under the jacket, you would find the Global Compact Series platform, which has, for example, the Jazz hatchback or the City sedan. The length of the Urban SUV concept also roughly corresponds to these models. 4300 mm are quite common today in similar models.

Series production will begin in 2014 in a new factory near the Mexican city of Celaya . It is supposed to have a capacity of up to 200,000 cars, but how much of that will be used for small SUVs is still a question.
