Honda Insight/CR-Z goodbye, European sales numbers abysmal

The lesser-known models of the Japanese brand Honda, the Insight and the CR-Z , were launched at the same time, i.e. during 2010. Of course, they are also sold in the European market , but this will probably change in a few years, as sales are not as satisfactory as the automaker itself would imagine.

The British newspaper AutoExpress , citing Honda , stated that European sales of the mentioned two models have fallen so much that the management of the Japanese automaker is considering ending sales in Europe before the arrival of the new generation Insight and CR-Z models. We will see in time whether the automaker really decides to withdraw the two hybrid models from the European market, but in our opinion it is more or less clear.

The larger Honda Insight has a 1.3 -liter i-VTEC petrol engine, which works together with an electric motor to give the car a total output of 102 horsepower and a torque of 200 Nm. Thanks to this powertrain, the Insight will offer a combined fuel consumption of 4.3 l/100 km and CO 2 emissions of 99 g/km.

Instead, the smaller Honda CR-Z has a 1.5 -liter gasoline engine, but it is also paired with an electric motor. We can expect a combined output of 137 horsepower and 190 Nm of torque. The small hatchback thus achieves an average consumption of 5 l/100 km and CO 2 emissions of 116 g/km.
