Honda Civic – Women's Car of the Year 2012

The Honda Civic won an award from the jury of The Women's World Car of the Year . It is divided into four categories: family car, luxury car, sports car and economical car. The Honda Civic was the winner in the 'economy car' category, with the Volkswagen Up! and the third position was taken by the Ford Fiesta . The car was chosen from the original list of 300 registered cars nominated by 20 female judges from 11 countries.

The Women's Car of the Year jury judged the Civic based on criteria women consider when buying a car, including safety, value for money, aesthetics, storage space, ease of driving, colour, appeal, environmental friendliness and suitability for traveling with children.

The award coincided with Honda's recent announcement of new features for the Civic range. These include the new 1.6 i-DTEC engine that will be available in the Civic model later this year, as well as the new Civic estate and Civic Type R in 2015. All of these new models are intended for the European market.

Two members of the jury, Henny Hemmes and Sandy Myhre, presented the award to Mr. Toshiaki Konaka, Head of Honda Motor Europe , at the Honda stand at the Paris Motor Show.
