Honda Civic Type R – Samurai katana comes on board

Honda got it right and once again presented a car that we really want. But for the first time ever, Honda's pepper hatchback has a turbocharged engine. Specifically, a new two-liter VTEC with a turbocharger of 310 horsepower and four hundred torques, as Jeremy would say. That's good, even if it doesn't really tell us much. But we have known since childhood that more is simply more.

The fact that the new Civic will be sharp and precise with a turbo engine is evidenced by the parameters published by the automaker. This devil gets to 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds, but with real courage you can try to get it up to 270 km/h. Although you may not even need Hunt's famous " big balls ", because handling should be on another level thanks to the new front axle with Dual Axis Strut system based on McPherson suspension . This is similar to the system from the excellent Mégane RS , as it also has a separate weight. And the self-locking differential , adaptive shock absorbers and electric power steering set for sporty driving cannot be missing either. Maybe the Frenchman should worry about his record time in hell.

You get the sharpest setting in +R mode. By pressing a single button, you speed up the response of the gas pedal , stiffen the shock absorbers by 30% and tie your hands with the power steering so that it does not interfere with your work so much. And when you understand that four-piston brakes with 350 millimeter large discs will get you out of a lot of trouble that you might not even get into on nineteen- inch 235/35 wheels, you start to allow yourself more and more.

The new Type R was developed at Suzuka or the Nürburgring , where Honda would like to beat the Mégane's time, which is now 7:54. Although the Civic is supposed to be much more usable in normal traffic and allow the driver to enjoy even just a normal trip to work, it could still become the fastest front-wheel drive on a difficult circuit. And of course, design must go hand in hand with performance and parameters. You can't build the automotive equivalent of Usain Bolt to look like an average American in tracksuit bottoms, so the hatchback got an aggressive bodykit with bold wing extensions, a big diffuser and a big rear wing. It's a shame that those taillights in the dark reminiscent of the devil's horns that the concept had are gone. I regret their absence in the series. But we already know that the fight for the best hot-hatch is heating up a lot, and the Japanese want a few crumbs from this pie too
