Honda Civic Type-R 2015 – over 250 horsepower

The Japanese brand Honda already presented the ninth generation of the Civic model last year at the Frankfurt Motor Show . Most rock fans are waiting to see if there is also a sharp version of the Type-R. And it looks like we will see it, as the first details were published yesterday.

In the engine compartment, we find a new 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with direct injection with an output of over 250 horsepower. Honda is currently developing an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission that could also be offered in the Japanese hot hatchback. The CEO, Takanobu Ito , announced a month ago at the Paris Motor Show that the new Civic Type-R will go on sale in 2015.

Honda confirms that its aim is to make the new Civic Type-R the fastest front-wheel drive model around the Nürburgring . The current record holder is the Renault Mégane Trophy 265 , which boasts a great time of 8 minutes and 8 seconds . According to an inside source, the sharp Civic should weigh under 1200 kg, but let's not be surprised.

The 2015 Honda Civic Type-R is unlikely to offer a three-door version, as will the new Ford Focus ST . However, it is not excluded that the powerful model could also be offered as a station wagon . The premiere of the "classic" station wagon is scheduled to take place sometime next year.
