Honda Civic 5D – Transport yourself to the future…

This time we will look at the teeth of the new Honda Civic 5D. This is already the tenth generation of this Japanese stallion. Cars like Hyundai i30 or Opel Astra are trying to compete with this car on the market. It boasts a new design, construction, modified chassis and is meant to embody Honda's innovative approach. Sophistication also plays a role here, when you will feel that the new Civic always has something in store for you.

As for space, the driver has as much space as he needs. The cabin has become wider and more spacious, and behind the wheel the driver really has an overview of what is happening all around him. Longitudinal space in the interior is 151 centimeters. The luggage compartment was not neglected either, which hides a volume of 478 l in the basic layout with the rear seats moved as far back as possible, with the rear seats moved forward it reveals a space of 828 l. After folding the rear seats, we get to the maximum usable luggage space, which is 1267 l. Bottom edge of the trunk is located at a height of 66 cm. Comfortably shaped seats provide pleasant comfort and support in turns. Honda is not lagging behind in terms of multimedia technology either, and there is a new CONNECT 2 system with a 7" display, wireless phone charging, heated all seats, two-zone air conditioning or an electronic parking brake, thanks to which part of the space in the center panel was saved.

Apple car play and Android auto technologies also remain a matter of course. The Civis 5D is shipped to the market in three different trims for both engine combinations. For the 1.0 VTEC TURBO engine, these are: Comfort, Elegance and Executive. The first one provides, for example, 16" light alloy wheels, AUX, USB, Bluetooth hands free, electrically adjustable and heated exterior mirrors and daytime LED lighting. Compared to the previously mentioned, the Elegance equipment also has, for example, 17" wheels, a Honda Conect multimedia LCD display including navigation, two-zone air conditioning, tinted side and rear windows, a rain sensor and more… . The top-of-the-line Executive trim has, in contrast to the elegance of speakers including a subwoofer, keyless start, adaptive dampers with three modes, detection of objects in the blind spot and an electrically operated sunroof… . It is also worth mentioning the Honda sensing packet, which includes various driving assistants such as a frontal collision warning, a system for mitigating the consequences of a traffic accident, a warning in case of unintentionally leaving the driving lane, also a lane keeping system, speed assistant, adaptive cruise control, rollover prevention from the road and the road sign recognition system. The second package is the optional Premium package, which hides a leather interior, heated rear seats and wireless charging of a mobile phone. In the same way, there are different equipments even for a more powerful unit. VTEC TURBO. The following trims are available in combination with this engine: Sport, Sport plus and Prestige. The differences between these equipments are very similar to those of the weaker engine version.

The body has also undergone a significant change, at first glance the massive front with an aggressive design and sharp curves catches the eye. The car feels more nimble and lively. In addition to the aggressive Japanese front, sharp curves continue over the entire side and the body is closed by an elongated trunk lid with a double wing. If you extend the sunroof, from the outside, another "wing" is formed, and this whole assembly then looks like a cascade of other aerodynamic elements and sharp curves.

The new Civic is lower and longer, which also adds another piece of the puzzle on the way to a sporty design. The chassis is stiffer and gives the car excellent driving characteristics, especially in corners. We all know what Czech roads look like, and the Civic can easily cope with normal road bumps without you feeling anything behind the wheel. And yet you won't lose your immediate connection to the road. The total wheel track without front mirrors is 1,800 mm, the total length is 4,495 mm and the height of the car is 1,420 mm.

The new Honda is available with two versions of aggregates. It is available with a one-liter VTEC TURBO gasoline engine with an output of 95 kW (129 hp) or with a more powerful fifteen-cylinder VTEC TURBO engine with an output of 134 kW (182 hp). Both versions come with either a six-speed manual or a CVT automatic transmission.

The designers developed two new engines, whose performance should meet the car's sporty characteristics and be economical at the same time. And they really succeeded. With the new civic 5D you can nimbly cut corners or simply enjoy the experience of a comfortable ride. My consumption at the end of the week for the liter unit with manual transmission and activated ECO mode was around 4.4l/100km.
