History Honda FC Sport

When it says Honda FC Sport , it probably doesn't mean anything to you. The more astute may have noticed that the name is reminiscent of the FCX Clarity type, which is no coincidence. The FC Sport was a concept sports car of the future and was presented by the automaker at the Los Angeles Auto Show in 2008. The bright white color revealed the dramatic curves in which today, six years later, we recognize current Honda cars. For example, the front end was a clear inspiration for the current generation Civic .

The appearance was the main issue here, because the car was not completely finished before the premiere and thus was not even drivable. But it clearly showed the direction Honda will take with the next sports car. The powertrain and hydrogen fuel cell came from the FCX Clarity sedan, which began mass production in the same year. The shape of the car made perfect use of aerodynamics and, for example, the front openings in the bumper functioned as a spoiler. The windshield smoothly transitioned into the sunroof and rear window. In the rear, fuel cells, an electric motor and a set of batteries could be seen under the glass. All this was located in the right place, so you could basically talk about a "mid-engine" car.

The interior is reminiscent of another legend – the McLaren F1 . So to be clear, the concept didn't actually have an interior, there were only studies and a description of the automaker. According to him, the driver sits in the middle and the two passengers on the sides have their seats moved somewhat backwards. For easier boarding, the roof and part of the sides were folded up.

We have not yet seen a similar car from Honda and it is not at all certain that we will see it anytime soon. However, Honda used many things from this concept in serial production. We'll see when they present something similarly interesting again.
