The seventh generation Golf GTI has been revealed in serial form

The very first generation of the Volkswagen Golf GTI was introduced in 1976, but time flies and now the seventh generation has been revealed in serial form, which will premiere in Geneva. The concept study of the sporty Golf VII was shown to us last September at the Paris exhibition center.

Like the classic seven-seat Golf, the Golf GTI will only offer an evolutionary design and will not differ significantly from the current design. The new generation of the sports hatchback will have typical elements like all GTIs . Specifically, it is a red line on the mask that extends to the headlights, side sill extensions, rear lamps with LEDs, a roof spoiler, a diffuser with two exhaust tips and a set of 17" alloy wheels with 225/45R17 tires. In the interior, we find sports seats with a tartan pattern, a leather steering wheel with a flattened underside, black headliner and red dashboard lighting.

Even the seventh generation of the Volkswagen Golf GTI is built on the MQB modular platform, with which weight savings were achieved. This means that the three-door version of the Golf GTI has a weight of 1350 kg. Under the hood we find a newer 2.0 -liter turbocharged four-cylinder with direct injection with a basic output of 220 horsepower.

When choosing the Performance GTI package, the output is 230 hp and there is a locking differential on the front axle. The power unit will be connected to either a six-speed manual or a dual-clutch with six gears. The weaker version accelerates to 100 km/h in 6.9 seconds and reaches a maximum speed of 240 km/h, while the more powerful version is better with acceleration by 0.5 seconds and the highest possible speed is 250 km/h.
