GM is preparing to strengthen massively in the area of engines

General Motors is preparing a massive engine offensive when it announced the arrival of up to eleven new Ecotec units . These will have a volume of one to one and a half liters and their mass use is planned from 2017 .

The Ecotec range is adapted for use in most small cars and compact crossovers across the group and, as is common these days, includes both three- and four-cylinder units. There will be turbocharged engines , as well as units adapted for use in hybrids or burning alternative fuels.

The first swallow is a turbocharged liter three-cylinder under the hood of the Opel Adam , the second model that will receive units from the Ecotec series (supercharged 1.4 and atmospheric 1.5) will be the second generation Chevrolet Cruze . Its introduction is expected in the second half of the year, and the primary market for this new product will be China.

Ecotec engines will reach outputs from 75 to 165 hp with maximum torque from 95 to 250 Nm .
