German Audi is preparing a model offensive

Rupert Stadler , CEO of Audi, confirmed that the German automaker is preparing to expand its current range from 49 to 60 models. Although he was not specific, he said that Audi will focus on the SUV category in the future.

The news about the expansion of the portfolio comes from Ingolstadt at a time when Audi has already managed to produce 1.5 million cars since the beginning of the year. With this, it was possible to fulfill the plan originally set until 2015. Stadler said on the occasion: “Our entire team is here today making Audi history. In 2005, we set a very ambitious goal and since then we have managed to create a unique brand and model initiative."

And it didn't just stop at the balance sheet, when Stadler also added some information about the future of the brand : "We will continue to write this success story and expand our model range from the current 49 to the future 60 models. We see great potential, especially in the segment of SUVs and luxury models."

The first new model will be the small SUV Q1 , which will appear on the market in the course of 2016. From other SUVs , models such as Q2, Q4, Q6 or Q8 will appear. Luxury models will mainly be represented by the A9 model , which can be a coupe or even some kind of Allroad sedan.

And what is the next goal ? That's two million cars sold in 2020, according to the brand's chairman and chief sales officer, Luca de Meo .
