Ford showed the 2015 model year Ranger

The facelift of the Ford Ranger has been "hot news" for many months, during which time the blue oval was able not only to publish a semi-official video , but also to have leaked images of the finished car through the patent office, in several versions. However, the full press release about the modifications of one of the "most global" global Fords is coming only now.

The body of the pickup truck, sold in 180 markets around the world , looks more robust and at the same time more elegant. The lion's share of this is due to the revised front part with a larger radiator grille that directly connects to the main lights. A more prominently shaped hood is better suited to the character of the work machine. However, the main center of gravity of the changes lies in the interior, reminiscent of classic passenger Fords in terms of materials and appearance.

The center console can be decorated with an eight-inch touch screen of the SYNC 2 multimedia system , while the lower part has a revised climate control. The decor in front of the passenger looks more valuable, and the same can be said about the instrument cluster with a central speedometer and two TFT displays on the sides, which transmit information from navigation, for example.

The modified chassis now scores not only with more comfortable suspension, but also with better grip and, thanks to the electronic booster , more precise steering at higher speeds and easier maneuverability with the steering wheel at lower speeds. The engine range includes the overwhelming majority of diesel engines, the only exception being the 2.5-liter Duratec with a power of 166 hp and a torque of 225 Nm. The basic diesel is a four-cylinder 2.2 Duratorq TDCi , more economical compared to the current version by 22 percent, with an output of 130 hp, the same unit is also available with 160 hp and 385 Nm. The highlight is the five-cylinder 3.2 Duratorq TDCi with a power of 200 hp and a torque of 470 Nm, which should be 18 percent more economical than before. They are driven through a manual or automatic six-speed gearbox, rear and alternatively all wheels.

Excellent off-road characteristics should be preserved, underlined by a ground clearance of 230 mm , approach angles of 28 and 25 degrees or a wading capacity of 800 mm. Versions with all-wheel drive also have an electronically controlled reduction gear and adjusted shifting, and can tow up to 3,500 kg. The next step to getting closer to passenger cars is a wide range of standard or additional safety assistants . The Ranger can thus be equipped with adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, front and rear parking assistant, traffic monitoring in front of the car, hill start and descent assistant or automatic assistance in the event of an accident.
