At the end of September last year, Ford published the first information about the extensive modernization of the purely work-class F-Series Super Duty . The most important change was the use of the new Power Stroke diesel , for which the American manufacturer published basic technical data.
The eight-cylinder with a volume of 6.7 liters has a power of 446 hp and a maximum torque of a massive 1164 Nm , which means an improvement of 40 hp and 81 Nm respectively. Ford achieved these improvements by using a larger GT37 turbo instead of the older GT32, a new high-pressure fuel pump, new fuel injectors and a turbine enlarged to 72.5 mm , giving the exhaust gases more room to spin the turbo, providing extra power.
At the same time, other parameters have also improved – the F-350 model can tow 12,020 kg , the F-450 even up to 14,152 kg . The F-350 received new front springs and a wider wheelbase, the F-450 has new wheels, modified leaf springs , stronger stabilizer bars, a strengthened steering system or larger brakes.
