Ford is preparing to premiere the new F-150 in Detroit

The new generation of the Ford F-150 , long the best-selling car in the US, is almost out the door. According to Bloomberg News , the novelty will be 340 kg lighter than before and we will see it for the first time in early January in Detroit .

The significant reduction diet is caused by the abundant use of aluminum , which can be found not only on the frame, but also on some body panels. At the same time, this brings with it a problem in the form of a backlog of blue oval factories. According to IHS Automotive , it will take Ford six weeks to replace or reconfigure all the machines and robots at each of the factories where the new pickup will be produced.

A saving of approximately 340 kg will have a positive effect on the car's consumption and emissions . And Ford needs that most of all, because according to the regulation, the average consumption of the entire range of any car company must drop to 4.3 l/100 km by 2025. At the same time, the future F-150 should drive on average only 7.8 l/100 km (the current generation consumes 10.2 l/100 km).

Under the hood we will find a new generation of engines, which will be led by the supercharged 2.7 EcoBoost from the Nano series. This will be complemented by a ten-speed gearbox and hybrid systems, used in smaller pickup trucks. The appearance of the body will be significantly influenced by the Atlas concept , which was presented this January in Detroit.

And it is here that the new F-150 is to be shown in a few weeks . Prototypes are reportedly already in development, and we will see the first serial pieces sometime in the second half of next year.
