Ford in Detroit shows the concept of the next generation F-150 pickup truck

Ford has decided to react quickly to the introduction of the Chevrolet Silverado/GMC Sierra twins and is exhibiting a new generation concept of the best-selling car in the US in Detroit .

This is none other than the Ford F-150 , but the harbinger of its new generation is called the Atlas . In terms of design, it may not differ that much from the current version, but the car is actually completely new. For all the details, let's name the dominant chrome radiator grille, lights with LED diodes or off-road wheels.

However, aerodynamics and thus consumption and emissions were also considered when designing the car. Thus, Atlas offers an "active radiator grille" or covers that cover the centers of the wheels at low speeds to hide them at high speeds. The movement of those covers also provides energy to the battery. Another good thing is the front retractable wind spoiler.

The interior is illuminated with a dark blue color , which we will not see in the series. What we could expect, on the other hand, are narrower seats that are lighter and offer more legroom for rear passengers. What must not be missing is the multimedia display screen and also the massive steering wheel.

Under the hood is an unspecified EcoBoost unit with a turbo and direct injection. The stop/start system further helps in reducing consumption.

The serial form of the F-150, which will emerge from this concept, will most likely come to the market next year . What will remain preserved and what will not, however, we can only guess.
