Ford Fusion in an even more ecological variant

Ford teamed up with beverage giant Coca-Cola and together the two companies created the revolutionary PlantBottle technology . It will be shown for the first time in Los Angeles in a Ford Fusion Energi .

The secret of PlantBottle technology lies in the use of recycled plastic and plant fibers for the fabric upholstery of the seats, headrests, door panels and ceiling. That doesn't sound like much in itself, but if the American automaker used this innovation in most of its models sold in the U.S., it would save 295,000 gallons of oil and 6,000 barrels of oil.

Johna Viera , the automaker's global director for the environment, said that in this way both companies are showing the way to replace oil and other fossil fuels with renewable resources that save the environment.

If you're interested in this research vehicle, you can see it live at the Los Angeles Auto Show starting later this week.
