Ford F-150 – New and Old on Sale at the Same Time!

The life of the current generation Ford F-150 is inexorably coming to an end, but according to the latest news from the automaker, the arrival of the new generation does not mean the departure of the old one. They will be produced simultaneously for a while and we know why.

The upcoming new Ford F-150 was foreshadowed by the Atlas concept at this year's Detroit Auto Show in January. The serial version should have a very similar design and lose a lot of weight compared to its predecessor, specifically by more than 300 kilograms ! This will be achieved through the extensive use of aluminum on the car's structure, with the current generation only having an aluminum bonnet. One of the consequences of the lower weight will be significantly better consumption .

But why will the old generation be produced at the same time as the new one? The reason is to maintain high sales of the car. The F-150 model is the best-selling vehicle in the US , and the entire F-series utility line, along with derivative SUVs , brings Ford 90% of global profits. So good sales of the F-150 are crucial for Ford . And since it will take some time for the production of the new product to start at full speed, the predecessor will also remain in production. Specifically, it should be six months , when both cars will be available at the same time.

The next-generation Ford F-150 will be unveiled at next year's North American International Auto Show and production will begin in July 2014 , meaning the current model will be available until the end of 2014.
